I just got hip to the life of a commuter. And…it’s different. I’m not even supposed to be here. I should have graduated in May, I should have been celebrating earning my degree and stressing about finding a job at the exact same time over the course of summer…but I still have some work to do. No shame.
Anyway, not living on campus (I’m not even living relatively close to Towson. It takes me 30 minutes…to get here) has given me new perspectives, new appreciations, and new frustrations about this semester. Here are some of my pros and cons of living the commuter life.
PRO: The freedom to jam to your favorite songs on your way to school…
This is how I learned ALL the lyrics to EVERY song on the radio!
CON:…until you have to deal with traffic
Me once I get onto I-695.
PRO: You don’t have to spend money on a meal plan
Here’s to not being constipated from eating on campus!
CON: You have to spend money on real food
True words have never been spoken!
PRO: Living off campus means you’re not bound by dorm of university rules…
RA’s? What RA’s?!
CON:…But wherever you go, you’re bound to pay rent
Landlords be like…
PRO: Laundry is free!
When you don’t have to spend $5-$10 a week on laundry!
PRO: You can pretty much live with whoever you want
CON: It might be a hassle to hang out with your friends who live on campus
At least it is for me it’s a hassle 😥
PRO: Towson always holds Off Campus & Commuter Appreciation Week!
YOU. DO. CARE!
CON: You can’t make every single event because of class, traffic, parking, etc.
